Jews and Christians ARE Disbelievers

It is claimed by some Muslims that the Jews and Christians cannot be referred to as disbelievers (kaffirs); this claim is made by both moderate Muslims, and ignorant Muslims who don't know the religion and act on their own flimsy desires. 

 

 This article is not meant to be offensive to any Jew or Christian; it is merely stating an Islamic fact, that according to our faith that you set of people are disbelievers, just like in your faiths we Muslims are disbelievers (infidels as your Church fathers say).

 

Now to the evidence.

 

 

The Quran says that anyone who desires a religion other than Islam will end up as a loser in the hereafter:

 

003.085
YUSUFALI: If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah), never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter He will be in the ranks of those who have lost (All spiritual good).

 

Allah explicitly says that no other religion shall be accepted, only Islam, and if you are on another faith or religion that is not Islam, then you shall be a loser in the hereafter, meaning you will end up in hell. Hence a Muslim cant say the Jews and Christians are not disbelievers, because they are not on the religion of Islam, hence if they die on the path they are on now, then no doubt they will be unsuccessful in the hereafter.

 

Now any Muslim knows the fundamental doctrine of Islam is tawhid, which means the oneness of Allah, that he is one, the only true God, having no partners, and that all worship is due to him. The Quran makes this doctrine very clear throughout the Quran, and even goes on to mention that anyone who contradicts it will end up in hell:

 

007.059
YUSUFALI: We sent Noah to his people. He said: "O my people! worship Allah! ye have no other god but Him. I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful day!

 

Noah's people were eventually given that dreadful punishment for not heading to his call:

 

007.064
YUSUFALI: But they rejected him, and We delivered him, and those with him, in the Ark: but We overwhelmed in the flood those who rejected Our signs. They were indeed a blind people!

 

Allah destroyed the people of Noah for setting up idols as other gods and worshiping them, basically they were destroyed for the sin of shirk, which is to set up partners and other gods beside the true and all mighty God. Let us further see what Allah said about those who die in a state of shirk:

 

004.048
YUSUFALI: Allah forgiveth not that partners should be set up with Him; but He forgiveth anything else, to whom He pleaseth; to set up partners with Allah is to devise a sin Most heinous indeed.

 

Allah clearly states here that he shall not forgive the sin of shirk, which is to set up partners alongside him, he also states this again:

 

004.116
YUSUFALI: Allah forgiveth not (The sin of) joining other gods with Him; but He forgiveth whom He pleaseth other sins than this: one who joins other gods with Allah, Hath strayed far, far away (from the right).

 

Once again Allah makes it clear that the sin of setting up other gods beside him will not be forgiven.

 

As we all know Christians claim that Jesus is God, hence they have committed the grave sin of shirk, and if they die upon the path they are on now, then Allah will not forgive them in the hereafter for this sin as he himself states. Hence it is crystal clear that Christians are indeed disbelievers because they commit shirk, how can the Christians not be disbelievers when the Quran says that those who die upon shirk will go to hell?! So therefore in their present state, the Christians are indeed disbelievers for this grave sin, and as we saw with the story of Noah, Noah called on his people to worship no God but Allah, his people rejected the message and were destroyed, this shows the grave severity of worshiping other gods besides Allah.

 

So therefore we already have 2 evidences that prove the Jews and Christians are disbelievers, one is that they are not on the faith of Islam, and Allah calls these people the losers, the ones who will lose in the hereafter. Secondly Allah calls on us and sent his prophets preaching that there is one God and all worship is for Allah, and Allah destroyed people for rejecting this message, which shows how evil they were, on top of this we saw Allah saying that he shall not forgive shirk, which is setting up other gods beside Allah. Christians set up Jesus as a god alongside Allah, whom they worship and so on, hence they are disbelievers under this criteria, for rejecting pure monotheism, and for making shirk, which is the most evil sin.

 

Another fundamental principle of Islam is that we believe and accept all messengers and prophets, to reject one of them is a major sin and makes you a disbeliever, the Quran makes this point of believing in prophets in several places:

 

003.084
YUSUFALI: Say: "We believe in Allah, and in what has been revealed to us and what was revealed to Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and in (the Books) given to Moses, Jesus, and the prophets, from their Lord: We make no distinction between one and another among them, and to Allah do we bow our will (in Islam)."

YUSUFALI: We gave him Isaac and Jacob: all (three) guided: and before him, We guided Noah, and among his progeny, David, Solomon, Job, Joseph, Moses, and Aaron: thus do We reward those who do good:

YUSUFALI: And Zakariya and John, and Jesus and Elias: all in the ranks of the righteous:

 

006.086
YUSUFALI: And Isma'il and Elisha, and Jonas, and Lot: and to all We gave favour above the nations:

 

002.177
YUSUFALI: It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces Towards east or West; but it is righteousness- to believe in Allah and the Last Day, and the Angels, and the Book, and the Messengers; to spend of your substance, out of love for Him, for your kin, for orphans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those who ask, and for the ransom of slaves; to be steadfast in prayer, and practice regular charity; to fulfil the contracts which ye have made; and to be firm and patient, in pain (or suffering) and adversity, and throughout all periods of panic. Such are the people of truth, the Allah-fearing.

 

057.028
YUSUFALI: O ye that believe! Fear Allah, and believe in His Messenger, and He will bestow on you a double portion of His Mercy: He will provide for you a Light by which ye shall walk (straight in your path), and He will forgive you (your past): for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

 

Many more verses could be shown but this is sufficient enough. As you can see, Muslims must believe in all the prophets and messengers, this is a fundamental of Islam, to lack this fundamental of Islam throws one out of the religion, and to reject this fundamental distinguishes the believer from the disbeliever.

 

As we all know the Christians and Jews reject Muhammad as a prophet, hence from this they are disbelievers, and the above verses are sufficient to prove it. But in fact let us use our brains; do you who calls yourself a Muslim actually say that those who reject the prophethood of Muhammad are not disbelievers?! And to the one who takes a hands off approach, do you still persist in your ignorance and say that you will not call those who reject Muhammad as a prophet as disbelievers?!

 

The Quran also records Jesus as saying:

YUSUFALI: And remember, Jesus, the son of Mary, said: "O Children of Israel! I am the messenger of Allah (sent) to you, confirming the Law (which came) before me, and giving Glad Tidings of a Messenger to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmad." But when he came to them with Clear Signs, they said, "this is evident sorcery!"

 

As you can see, Jesus said that there would be a prophet who would come after him named Ahmed, and this is none other than the prophet Muhammad, however so Christians reject the prophet Muhammad, hence they disobeyed their own prophet and what he preached, and to disobey a prophet is to disobey God, and to disobey God is to become like Iblis who disobeyed God in paradise, and the outcome of this is one becomes a disbeliever and is thrown into hell.

 

The Quran even says:

 

004.014
YUSUFALI: But those who disobey Allah and His Messenger and transgress His limits will be admitted to a Fire, to abide therein: And they shall have a humiliating punishment.

 

This verse is referring to those who disobey the prophet Muhammad, but there is no reason why this verse cannot be used as evidence that previous people who also disobeyed their own prophets would also receive the same punishment.

 

Now the Christians reject the prophet Muhammad confirming their disbelief, as for the Jew the Jew rejects both the prophet Muhammad and Jesus! And to reject any prophet is a sign of disbelief and makes on a disbeliever, hence the Jews have double guilt.

 

Let us now see what Allah directly says concerning the Jews and Christians, and this will be the nail in the coffin you could say:

 

005.072
YUSUFALI: They do blaspheme who say: "Allah is Christ the son of Mary." But said Christ: "O Children of Israel! worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord." Whoever joins other gods with Allah,- Allah will forbid him the garden, and the Fire will be his abode. There will for the wrong-doers be no one to help.

 

Allah is referring to the Christians here as anybody can see, Allah clearly says that those who is say Allah is Jesus have disbelieved and committed blasphemy, and this is what Christians say, they say Jesus is God! Hence they have committed disbelief, so therefore Christians in their present state who claim Jesus is God are disbelievers as this verse explicitly proves.

 

005.073
YUSUFALI: They do blaspheme who say: Allah is one of three in a Trinity: for there is no god except One Allah. If they desist not from their word (of blasphemy), verily a grievous penalty will befall the blasphemers among them.

 

Allah once again condemns the Christians for their blasphemous belief of Trinity, and threatens them with a severe punishment, hence Christians who believe and preach the Trinity are disbelievers as this verse explicitly proves.

The Quran also says regarding Jesus:

 

004.159
YUSUFALI: And there is none of the People of the Book but must believe in him before his death; and on the Day of Judgment he will be a witness against them;-\

 

Allah says that the people of the book must believe in Jesus, Allah makes this statement after these 2 verses:

 

004.157
YUSUFALI: That they said (in boast), "We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah";- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not:-

 

004.158
YUSUFALI: Nay, Allah raised him up unto Himself; and Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise;-

 

Allah mentions how he saved Jesus from the Jews, and then states that all must believe in Jesus, obviously this is referring to the Jews who disbelieve in Jesus, hence we can say they are disbelievers for rejecting Jesus, and the Quran is explicitly condemning them here for rejecting Jesus.

 

All of these verses are sufficient enough to refute those who have a stance that the Jews and Christians are not disbelievers, we summarize our points:

 

1- Worshiping and setting up other gods beside Allah is disbelief

 

2- The Christians set Jesus as a god and worship him, hence they commit the sin of shirk making them disbelievers

 

3- The only religion Allah will accept is Islam, he will not accept any other faith and religion, hence he will not accept Christianity, nor Judaism, hence their followers will be unsuccessful in the hereafter

 

4- A believer must accept all prophets and messengers, Christians reject the prophet Muhammad hence they are disbelievers, Jews reject the prophet Muhammad and Jesus, hence they are disbelievers

 

5- The Quran explicitly calls the Christians as disbelievers for calling Jesus God and for believing in the Trinity

 

6- The Quran explicitly condemns the Jews for not believing in Prophet Jesus making them disbelievers
