The Parable of the Vineyard and God's ignorance
Sami Zaatari
One famous well known parable from the Gospels is the parable of the vineyard, many Christians often like to bring it up and use it as a proof for the Jesus' supposed divinity, but what most Christians fail to realize is that this parable works against their God!
Here is the Parable in full:
He then began to speak to them in parables: "A man planted a vineyard. He put a wall around it, dug a pit for the winepress and built a watchtower. Then he rented the vineyard to some farmers and went away on a journey. At harvest time he sent a servant to the tenants to collect from them some of the fruit of the vineyard. But they seized him, beat him and sent him away empty-handed. Then he sent another servant to them; they struck this man on the head and treated him shamefully. He sent still another, and that one they killed. He sent many others; some of them they beat, others they killed. "He had one left to send, a son, whom he loved. He sent him last of all, saying, 'They will respect my son.' "But the tenants said to one another, 'This is the heir. Come, let's kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.' So they took him and killed him, and threw him out of the vineyard. (Mark 12:1-8)
So according to this parable you have the owner of the vineyard, and he time to time sends his servants to collect the fruit from the tenants of the vineyard, but what the tenants do is that they either killed or abused the servants, and this kept happening over and over again, so eventually the owner decides to send his son, the owner assumes that since he is sending his son, the tenants will respect his son and therefore the situation will be different as the previous incidents. However so, the owner got it even more wrong because the tenants were now motivated more than ever to kill because this was the son! They reasoned that if they killed the son, they would become the heirs and the inheritance would go to them! So essentially it's quite clear that the owner got it completely wrong, and got his son killed.
Now this is a parable, the owner of the vineyard refers to God, the servants who get beat or killed refers to his prophets and messengers, and the son refers to Jesus. Hence in other words God got it wrong! He kept sending prophets to the people, but they kept beating and killing them, and then God for some strange reason assumed that by sending his Son the people would respect him, the same people who had been doing the killings and beatings! Obviously that didn't go according to the plan at all, because they ended up killing Jesus as a common criminal, just like they did to the previous messengers and prophets, hence the Son was not given any respect, there was no difference at all!
So this shows how God got it wrong, not only did he get it wrong, he assumed wrong as well, which makes him ignorant, and in this whole process he got his son killed, which also shows he's incompetent!
What a lovely parable wouldn't you say? Indeed, if you were an atheist then this parable would suit you perfectly!
And Allah Knows Best!
