Justified by faith alone?

Sami Zaatari

If anyone has read the supposed writings of Paul then one would see that he often taught that only faith matters, not deeds, as he himself (supposedly) said:

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1)

What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found? For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. (Romans 4:1-5)

So it's all about the faith, the faith in Jesus Christ, the faith in Jesus' resurrection for the ungodly and so forth.

Now I have a question for the Christian readers, and the question is about a Christian who has a true faith in Jesus Christ, yet this Christian performs pagan rituals, such as sacrificing for pagan idols. Let us also bring up another scenario, say this Christian has a true faith in Jesus Christ, but he prays to dead saints for help and so forth, he prays to the dead saint as he would pray to God himself, what would we say about this Christian? Is he still saved, is he still righteous? Well you probably are thinking NO, but the fact is is that Paul taught in FAITH ALONE, now the acts of pagan rituals and sacrificing is an ACTION, remember, this Christian who is performing the pagan sacrifice still has a perfect and good faith in Jesus Christ. The same goes for the worshiper, worshiping is an ACTION, and if its all about the faith alone, then your deeds and actions cannot condemn you unless your faith and belief is dirty and wrong, and after all these Christians have a true and perfect faith in Jesus Christ, hence these actions they commit are not a problem as they are actions only!

I am sure the Christians can now see the problem with this, in fact let us even go further, let us assume you have Christians who mock the Christian belief, they mock Jesus, and they take it as a joke, yet they STILL HAVE A TRUE FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST! Now some may say how is that possible, how can you believe and make fun of it? Well, the person is simply joking, its an action, but his HEART doesn't really believe the jokes, he is just acting silly for this moment, and just go look at the comedians, many comedians have a religious belief yet they still mock their own faith at times!

The problems can go on and on, and I believe you the Christian can see the problem with believing in faith alone.

Now in Islam we say that even if a Muslim truly believes in Allah and Islam, but does actions that are un-Islamic, then he is not a Muslim, for instance if he mocks the Islamic religion then he becomes an apostate, if he does an action of paganism, such as bowing to an idol or something to that effect, then we say he is not a Muslim EVEN IF HE HAS A TRUE BELIEVE IN ALLAH AND ISLAM!

In Islam it is not your faith alone that defines you as a Muslim, but it is your belief, your tongue, and your action, basically your heart, what you say, and what you do. I guess this is not the case with Christianity, which opens up a Pandora's Box of problems.

And Allah Knows Best!
