The Statement of Faith
Dr. White's confused theology
Sami Zaatari
I recently decided to read Dr. White's statement of faith which can be found on his website. The link to his statement of faith can be seen here:
http://aomin.org/articles/statement.html
As I read his statement of faith I couldn't get through the end of the 2nd paragraph due to all his inconsistencies! This article that I am about to write is a sort of rebuttal to his statement of faith, and the intention is to show how confused Christian apologists are.
So with that said let us see what James White has to say concerning his faith, he begins by saying:
We believe the Bible to be the written revelation of God, complete and sufficient in all respects. We believe the Scriptures to be "God-breathed" and therefore fully authoritative in and of themselves; they rely for their authority upon no church, council, or creed, but are authoritative simply because they are the Word of God. The Scriptures, as they embody the very speaking of God, partake of His authority, His power.
RESPONSE
So Dr. White claims that the Bible is the word of God, note Dr. White is making a general statement, that the entire Bible is the written revelation of God, and is inspired.
Well that right there is a false statement, the Bible is NOT the word of God, nor is it the revelations of God. By that I mean that the Bible as a WHOLE is not the word of God, nor is every single word and sentence a revelation from God. For instance Luke started his Gospel by writing this:
1 Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us, 2 Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word; 3 It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus, 4 That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed.
As you can see Luke was not inspired, rather since he claimed to have known good details about what had happened during Jesus' life, he thought it would be good if he wrote an account of what happened, basically like a historian writing down a sort of biography.
Secondly, Paul refutes Dr. White as well! We read that Paul stated these words:
But to the rest speak I, not the Lord (1 Corinthians 7:12)
Paul explicitly tells the Corinthians that he is speaking, not the Lord, basically he is speaking of himself, not of God, which basically means its not a revelation but simply his own personal opinion!
Therefore Dr. White is wrong when he says the Bible is the written revelation of God. We could quote several more passages from both the OT and the NT to illustrate further that the Bible is not the revelation of God, but these two small points are enough for now.
Dr. White goes on to make an interesting claim, basically he is a Bible only person, that is from where he sets his doctrine, not from the Church, or Church councils who meet with each other and debate issues and eventually come up with a doctrine.
So since Dr. White is Bible only then I challenge him to show me form his Bible where the following doctrines are taught, and I want each one in explicit wording:
-That God is three in one, in explicit wording
-That Jesus said he is God
-That Jesus said he is the 2nd in the Trinity
-That the Holy Spirit said he is the 3rd in the Trinity
-That the Holy Spirit said he is God
I would be very grateful if Dr. White can show us any of this from his Bible. It shouldn't be too hard right? Let us continue with the rest of Dr. White's statement of faith:
We believe in one true and eternal God, unchanging, unchangeable
RESPONSE
Very interesting indeed, however so Dr. White seems to be confused with his own theology now! Notice Dr. White says that God does not change; he is unchangeable, as his Bible teaches that his God is the same today, yesterday, and tomorrow.
Yet Dr. White's God did change! Dr. White believes that Jesus who is the son of God, took on the flesh, and limited himself, becoming a man and giving up his divine personality!
If that isn't a change then I don't know what is! Trinitarians do not believe that Jesus was always a man limited by the flesh, Trinitarians such as Dr. White believe that before Jesus became a man and dwelt among us, that he was a divine all powerful person who was not constrained by his man-hood.
So Dr. White DOES believe his God changed, his God completely changed! In his essence, attributes, and nature, HE BECAME A MAN!
Dr. White continues:
We believe God is the Creator of all that exists in heaven and in earth. The God who is described in the Bible is unique; He is unlike anyone or anything else in all the universe.
RESPONSE
I agree with Dr. White, but Dr. White does not agree with Dr. White! Dr. White claims that God is UNIQUE, unlike anything else in the universe, yet Jesus was NOT unique! Jesus was a man just like all of us, he ate, he wept, he napped, he prayed, and he died (according to Christian belief). So what is so unique about him? Christians always make such a big issue out of Jesus becoming a man, BECOMING LIKE US, hence this proves Jesus is NOT unique, and that Jesus is LIKE us.
Now sure Jesus did something unique things, but every prophet did unique things, and sure Jesus is a unique type of human, but so is every other human! Each human is unique in his own special way, yet that doesn't make us God. When God says he is unique it means he is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TO US, that we cannot comprehend him, nor can we compare to him in any shape or form. The Christian God in Jesus is not unique, and is FULLY MAN as Christians say, so what is this uniqueness?
Dr. White is saying all the right things, but his faith and beliefs say all the wrong things and opposite to what he is saying!
Dr. White continues to write:
We believe the Bible teaches that there is but one being of God, yet there are three Persons who share this one being of God: the Father, the Son, and the Spirit. Each Person is fully and completely God, each is described in Scripture as possessing the attributes of God. The Father, Son, and Spirit have eternally existed in the relationship described by the term "Trinity."
RESPONSE
Prove it, you stated you are a Bible only person, and I already laid the challenges down, so from your Bible show us these doctrines.
Secondly, Dr. White contradicts himself within the space of a sentence, notice what he writes:
We believe the Bible teaches that there is but one being of God, yet there are three Persons who share this one being of God: the Father, the Son, and the Spirit. Each Person is fully and completely God
What?!
He believes there is one God, one ?being', although his Bible simply says one God, not one being. He claims he believes in one God, then says that this God is made up of three persons, and each one of these persons is FULLY GOD. So to break it down to make it very simple for you:
-Jesus is FULLY GOD hence he is God
-The Father is FULLY GOD hence he is God
-The Holy Spirit is FULLY GOD hence he is God
So how many God's is that? Three persons, each one is FULLY GOD, not each one is partially and half God and when you connect it with the other they make one God-head. No, EACH person is FULLY God and you have three persons, hence how many God's do you have? Very simply, you have THREE GODS!
Dr. White and his Trinitarian friends can play all the word games they like, yet by his own admission, by his own logic, he has shown that he has three Gods, and not one God.
I give Dr. White some very good advice from the Noble Quran:
004.171
YUSUFALI: O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: Nor say of Allah aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) a messenger of Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in Allah and His messengers. Say not "Trinity" : desist: it will be better for you: for Allah is one Allah: Glory be to Him: (far exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs.
Follow the advice Dr. White, you were almost there, you first started by saying God is one, but you then ended up all over the place by saying THREE. Do not say three Dr. White, say ONE; God is ONE, not three in one or one in three!
Dr. White then commits an error when he writes:
Man rebelled against His Creator, and fell into sin
RESPONSE
I must correct you Dr. White, WOMAN fell into sin, and WOMAN rebelled against her creator, as both the OT and Paul teach that is was the LADY who was deceived, not Adam. Hence be consistent with what your own Bible says. Your Bible shows that Adam was not aware of what he was eating, which is exactly why God did not curse him, and which is exactly why Adam blamed his wife by saying I only ate what she gave me!
Last but not least Dr. White says something rather interesting:
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died in the place of this elect people
RESPONSE
Notice Dr. White does not believe that Jesus died for all of mankind, rather he believes that Jesus only died for a SELECT FEW, as Dr. White writes, Jesus died for his ELECT PEOPLE.
Dr. White don't you think it is ignorant of yourself to claim that you are part of God's elected people? Who are you to make such a call and judgment?
Most Christians would not even agree with Dr. White on this point, in fact many Christians wouldn't agree with most of what Dr. White has to say, Trinitarians included!
And they say their God is NOT the author of confusion?!
And Allah Knows Best!
